Coffee tour

Hey loves,

It has been a while since last post and I've had so many great ideas to post about, but some way producing material for them has been a bit difficult. I could blame this heat -- well I am totally blaming this heat, as it is making even little things impossible sometimes. I do not really know if it is possible to get used to this climate ever, and every day I admire these local ladies carrying these pots and bags top of their heads, middle of the streets during the hottest hours of the day.

Couple of weeks ago, we had a great day in the centro with my colleagues, as we were on little tour of cafeterias. I was really excited about this day, as I really like to get to know new places, especially cafeterias. As I have mentioned earlier, I have this crush on centro and its atmosphere and streets. I could wonder around for hours, but it is the honest truth, it gets pretty damn hot, and without little breaks to cool off, it is impossible to tourist around.

For me just going for coffee is a great activity, and something I am trying to teach to my hubby as well. I have this complex history with coffee, as I was taught to drink coffee since my early years (as I am true Finn), but still I have always had this special relationship with tea (I guess my Russian roots are coming out here). I do definitely appreciate a good cup of coffee, but what makes cafeteria great is their variety of coffees as well as teas. Especially lately with all my health worries, coffee has become more like a dessert, something I enjoy here and there, which makes it even more special occasion. From our tour, these two places were my absolutely favourites:

                                                           El Hoyo: Casa de Té
                                                             @elhoyocasadete

We started our tour by visiting one of the most characteristic places I have seen here in Mérida. I love the fact, that centro is home of so many amazing places. This place was quite far from traditional coffee place, but definitely worth to visit. From outside El Hoyo looks like cute little tea house, but while stepping in, you get even more suprised of its uniqueness. This place is a mix of different styles, and for me it is the factor, that makes it so cute and unique. You can continue from the first ''room'' to behind, where you find totally different areas with different atmosphere and vibes. As it is tea-house, majority of the specialties are fusion teas, but for me it was more than perfect. And do not worry coffee lovers, they also serve coffee, as well as food. I am a big cake lover, well pastry lover too, so cafeterias are always places, where I get to try something good. This time I chose to try something sweet.. suprise suprise. I chose the ''healthier'' option, well I mean, it was easier to lie to myself, that Crepé with berries and fruit is someway healthier than piece of cake.

I am a big fan of rustic style and that is definitely one of the major reasons I am so fond on centro and its surroundings. Reason why I also liked El Hoyo so much, it was one of a kind, and these cute cats hanging out with you are just massive plus. So cat lovers this place is for you!

 As I mentioned above, El Hoyo really is a quite big place, you can choose if you feel like chilling on the sofa with your friends, or if you feel like enjoying the garden views. Definitely place to visit, such a cool atmosphere and menú is very delicious too, without forgetting vegan friendly.

                                                                   Marago  Coffee
                                                                   @maragocoffe

My another favourite was our tour's last point called Marago Coffee in Paseo Montejo, right in the heart of the hotel area. This cafeteria is specialized in different specialty coffees as cold brews and  their knowledge about coffee is very impressive. Not only the coffees are incredibly tasty, but they have baristas who really are passionate about their job. Great Coffee is a reason to visit Marago, but they also have breakfast & brunch menú, offering great variety of classic Mexican breakfast/brunch foods, and I mean who doesn't love brunch? Without forgetting my favourites -- the desserts. I really cannot name only one thing to try, as everything I have tried has been just heavenly.

Marago Coffee has really nice modern decoration and it is great place to stop by for coffee or lunch, because of its central location. Perfect spot for meeting friends or business partners.

Cold Brew's are really worth to try, here I had Rose&Mint cold brew, which was very unique and best part, made of fresh ingredients, as the mint was growing on their own plant pots. The flavour is so rich and works as dessert itself already. Perfect for a coffee lovers, who want to try something different.

Marago is quite spacious cafeteria, which I like as I can have the feeling of privacy, but also they have tables outside, making it possible to enjoy your special moment with a pet or if you are just fan of vibrant Paseo Montejo view.

Hopefully you guys are having a great week filled with even greater coffee!

Love, Ada xx
